Love Halloween! Set up the stage last night with black lights, fog machine, static generator, the usual spooky stuff. Maybe it’s corny, but it’s still fun! My camera crapped out so I didn’t get the photos I wanted, but I can pull some off the video camera and post them later. We all had a great time, and there were some fantastic costumes too. We even got a visit from the Great Pumpkin….too bad Charlie Brown wasn’t there. And the jello “brains” that Treena, the bartender gave me tasted kind of like strawberry rum! The first set was kinda weird for me though, something just didn’t sound right. When I took a break for the costume judging contest, I discovered that my vocal mike channel on my mixer had been switched so my vocals were being partialy routed through my guitar processor and looper. That was fun trying to figure that out on a dark stage, especially with the smoke machine beltching out clouds of smoke! Finally got everything set up right and the rest of the night went without a hitch, until the last half hour when my voice gave out. Probably from the smoke machine?! Oh well, it’s ok to have a weird sounding voice on a Halloween gig, no matter if it’s caused by equipment patched in wrong, smoke, rum flavored “brains”, or whatever! Yeah, I was in costume too……it took me forever in the shower to get all that stuff off my face and out of my hair!
On a side note….I started a music project some time ago that got sidelined for several reasons. I think it’s about time to bring it back to life. I’m going to try a few things before I decide for sure, but I’ll keep this blog up to date if I decide to go for it. Could prove interesting?
